Here's a couple of items I was driven to scribe this mornin'.
The first is on the South Australian affair of their ALP premier, Mike Wran being asked to call it a day.
I flung it to the Adelaide Now news webpage, as it had a comments window with the article, but the ABC didn't, which is what had me write the 2nd piece to them.

The ALP must be on constant watch against individuals becoming idols, who the whole party comes to depend upon.
The ALP should be about Good Government Policy, not about any one person's career, or in the worst cases, ego.
If a party relies on 1 shining light, then 1, there's something wrong with the recruiting process and search, & 2, indicts the education system as flawed if only 1 out of a 100 or a 1000 stand above the rest as possessed of the qualities all politicians, and indeed, all adults are capable of educing from within themselves.
Intelligence. Maturity. Wisdom. Honor.
And 3, soon enough will bring about failure of the whole organ, especially once that individual leaves or dies.
This whole concept is a falsity, and has it's roots in the centrist and dangerous Christian belief system. Indeed, this deadly idea of putting 'faith' in 1 person is what is bringing down civilisation, as-a-whole.
There need be few, if any, situations which demand 1 person running affairs, which cannot be as ably done by another.
Leadership in today's politics, worldwide, has become a misleading and serious error in how we run government and thus the nation, or local council.
It is Wise, to NEVER put all your eggs in 1 basket!
To the ABC complaints department:
Most online media, here and abroad, now have room for readers to comment on news stories.
Also, many do not have (such small) character or word limits as the ABC limits us to.
If ABC is OUR ABC, a public media organ, an Australian public media organ, then these (unlimited size) comment windows should be standard after all news items on the news webpages.
It's typical of the still nubile internet that one wastes ridiculous amounts of time just searching on the ABC online websites, for the 'send your comment' or, as in this email's case, the 'contact us' email link.
The internet is supposed to be an interactive means of communication, meaning it should be, and is designed to be, and has this as a massive advantage over old, out-dated, 'traditional', 20th century radio and televisual media, a 2-way affair.
That the ABC, OUR ABC, often makes it very difficult to partake in this way, often on news issues which might well be more properly assessed by all, with immediate and direct public comment on the same page (as against relying on dangerously dubious 'opinion polls'!), may well be evidence that the ABC is not OURs, but is a censor of news and current affairs, slanted to the advantage of offshore, that-is FOREIGN political-read-economic interests.
A view, not without foundation, AND evidence!
With the probable demise of the scurrilous News International global media cabal, and, if Australian media and politics has any Merit, Honor and Courage, the end of NI's corrupting influence in Australian media and political spheres, then the ABC should be able to embrace a much needed, more egalitarian format.
These points I raise, being perhaps, just one way to improve?
Otherwise, the ABC is to be Celebrated, as an indispensable service, with 'World's Best' Journalists, programs and Reporters, to whit our federal government must increase funding significantly. For lack of proper funding, may be why such constraints (of limited or no 'comments' spaces) are deemed necessary?
