I'd just like to fling a few words around, about products made in China, and sold in K-mart.
I needed a "jigsaw" a few months ago, just to do a few minor sawing jobs. Not needing it for much, I went to Kmart, and blew $22 on a special from OH! China.
Got it back to the ute, plugged it in, and it lasted about 30 seconds, then went zzzzIIIING into overdrive-cause-the gears-fell to pieces!
I broke the warranty, cause I was in the bush, and pulled it apart - unscrewed the self-tappers.
Yep! The gears had disengaged.
Why?
Well, it WAS only $22?
But you'd kinda expect it to work for a few minutes, even at $22?
Further inspection found a design flaw. I attempted to remedy it... but..., zing..., zing..., ZIIIIIIINNNNGG!
Like a false neutral on a Kwaka 2-stroke!
Why????
Why do Chinese manufacturers bother making such shit?
Why does Kmart buying department buy such shit?
Why does Australian Standards allow such crap into the country?
Why do idiots like me play false economics by spending $22 on a $0.50 cent piece of shit?
I thought, in my defense, it would do, for a few small jobs.
The Chinese makers laugh at Kmart for having such idiots in their buying department.
The Australian government and their product Standards section is asleep at the helm, cannot keep up with the crap any rip-off retailer chooses to import and flog to gullible customers, and the Chinese government are a bunch of utter liars when they profess to be going Green at full steam ahead, when they allow their nation's companies to make such garbage, which the makers know will be on the rubbish heap in less than a year.

If nothing else..., Armageddon will put an end to those irascible bastards who are rooting everything with their demented "planned obsolescence"!

It seems, at least one thing the USA does well, is make GOOD QUALITY tools. But Australia's utterly corrupt Customs department, and whichever department imposes import duties on overseas products (departments owned by the IMF) ensure we pay through the nose for anything of quality here.
Not a problem for the top 25% of Australians.
Also, our IMF governments of the passed 50 years, have used taxation and planning to bring third world nations out of poverty and up to speed in such as manufacturing, and in the process have destroyed all incentives for Australians to manufacture ANYTHING.
Another good reason for us to become a Republic.
But, I'd like to say see ya later China, I'm over the crap you flog us. But I know I refuse to collect my inheritance (What price, Honor!?), and therefore will in future not be able to afford good quality products, like an Apple computer, or a quality angle grinder, or other stuff.
But really, China, after all I've done for you???
It's not too much to ask that you try to lift the standards and quality of your exports.
I talk about ME falling for "false economy" in buying junk products, but the same applies both to the company and to the nation whence it is exported, when the stuff is made so badly that it is almost immediately a waste product.
Markets ain't all good markets......
I hope I can afford a quality angle grinder tomorrow?

I just read on the internet that the Chinese Government has stopped MISTER Bob Dylan from playing his World-Changing music in your Honorable Nation!
Excuse ME?
I understand that your Government has concerns about such Prophets of our time speaking-out about complicated matters like China's relationship with Tibet, and, yes, Bob Dylan has been known to speak forthrightly on these types of issues.
I cannot, of course, offer any guarantees that he would not speak in similar terms if he were allowed to visit and perform in China, but I put it to President Hu Jintao, and Premier Wen Jiabao, and others of the Nation's upper echelon, that your nation has much to respect of Mister Dylan, for the Good Work he has done for over five decades in lifting the minds of the American and world's youth from an otherwise dishonorable and un-principled life.
He surely is not to be compared to the Icelandic female singer "Bjork"?
While the "western" world clearly is far from being Just, or from having Wise Government, we all, including the Chinese, and the Revolutionary Government of the People's Republic of China, have to remember that it has often been the Wise and heart-felt, serious and political song lyrics of Bob Dylan that has helped steer not just the USA of today, but the whole world toward being a far more Just place!
I suggest you know my influence in politics of the last ten years at least, and that I speak fearlessly on issues which are crucial to our Collectively Progressing away from unbridled tyranny?
Since the early 1970s, still a youth in Melbourne Australia, I was fortunate enough to be given Bob Dylan's Music to sooth my Soul, and to lift my mind politically and socially, to addressing the important, that-is the less trivial issues which effect everyone's life.
So too, it can be said with certainty, that some many millions of thinking, highly Intelligent Americans, and as well, Good, Wise Folk from all corners of the Earth, have learned through Bob Dylan's Soul and it's expression in his songs and music to dispel any fears of those our parents not-so-long-ago thought of as enemies - the "Golden"-skinned Peoples of China.
His Wisdom has penetrated all of our Hearts, and made many many millions more of us into being far less selfish and far more "Socialist" in how we look at government and those who climb or ascend to lead us.
In all humility President Hu, and Premier Wen, I ask that you speak to those who are afraid of his Greatness, and who have banned him from spreading His Compassion and Wisdom in China, and ask that they reverse this foolish decision?
Do not, I beg of you, deprive your Fine Youth of the "Light" he has to offer in his music, lyrics, and on stage performances.
To that, I attended an open air concert he gave in London in the 1970s, a concert he gave for FREE, after he heard of how poorly the concert venue organized ticket-sales for his earlier concerts'.
250,000 people attended at an old air-force base south of London, to watch and listen to, what I still today, "feel", was the best music concert I have seen.
Again, I do understand that your Government has an huge responsibility in ensuring some Order is maintained across the Land, and I have always argued against those who criticize China as being "repressive" etc.
It will always astound me that those critics, usually from nations that are in truth, falling apart, whose governments increasingly turn their backs on the poor, and nations of far smaller populations, are so stupid as to criticize China?
My retort to them, is usually "I'd like to see YOU managing a nation the size of China?"
Please, reconsider, and offer a Welcome to Bob Dylan, for to uplift the minds and Souls of Your Youth?
