An optimist might dream that one day, all vehicles will have solar panels as standard, molded into their roof and other sunny-side, near-to/horizontal panels.

This and similar ideas should be at the front of the major auto makers' design teams' minds.

But NO-O-O, they're more innerested in the cheapest garbage of "the LATEST' gizmo and body-shape and hi-tech bullshit to keep the consumers' minds thrilling with insatiability, while the paint still glistens, and before they prang 'em.

Auto-makers only receive government funding because they have relatively large employee numbers, so can blackmail governments to funding them and keeping them operating on the "jobs-jobs-jobs" and "VE MUST BE MORE PRODUCTIVE" mantras.

This way, they persist in designing-in planned obsolescence, so forcing consumers to renew far more frequently than we should need to,

If it were possible, which it ain't in the false democratic structures we labour under, governments should desist funding auto-makers, while they refuse to go Green 100% - far more possible than we're told - to making vehicles which last at least 50 years, aside from usual wearing parts, and have as standard all and every "Green" piece of equipment in them.

These types of "rallies" are yep, for the wealthy student-researchers, and other vested-interests. But especially in motor vehicles, this type of experimentation is what has brought the car out of inefficient and generally bad-bad ecological and other "primitive" designs to the smooooth and enviro-friendly ones of today. Albeit that "enviro-friendly" and "motor car" together make an oxymoron.

The cost to the environment in manufacture of almost all "motor" vehicles, these early versions of eco-friendly included, is unsustainable, and completely unjustifiable.

Or, the motor car is, perhaps, humanity's least sustainable egotrip.

Motorcycles, the one exception. But I might be biased?
